Waynetown - Claude C. Darnell, 78, died suddenly at his home here at 7 a.m. Friday. Mr. Darnell was a former Waynetown postmaster and a retired grocer. With his brother, he had operated Darnell Bros. here 40 years until his retirement. He was also a former school teacher in Waynetown and Parkersburg. After his retirement, he moved to Florida for several years and returne din September 1956. A Montgomery County native Mr. Darnell was born Jan 11, 1879 and was the son of Henry Wallace and Mary R. Darnell. He was the last of a pioneer family of 9 children. He was married in 1910 to Clair Faunce at Waynetown. She died in 1943. He married Jennie Hayes in 1945. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Mary a. Sullivan of Signal Mount, Tenn; two stepsons, Lawrence and Harold Hayes of Wingate; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Helen Allhands of Wingate; 3 grandchildren; a great grandchild and two nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Servies Funeral Home with Rev. Guy E. Tremain officiating. Burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. kbz
